Challenge
The property services division handles land acquisitions for upcoming capital projects. Before implementing Masterworks Right of Way, information related to land projects, parcels, agreements, and easements was scattered across multiple Excel and Word files. GIS data was stored in Geocortex and final documents in eDocs. Key details were manually input into an SQL database for reporting.
Solution
The regional Municipality of York adopted Masterworks Right of Way to enhance its land acquisition and expropriation processes. This solution features over 70 legal templates, automated workflows for both amicable acquisitions and expropriations, including comprehensive GIS data for each parcel and easement. Additionally, the solution integrated with the existing eDoc system, providing the property services team with a unified platform to manage every detail of land-related projects.
Impact
By using Masterworks Right of Way to streamline its land acquisition process for new construction projects, the regional Municipality of York has significantly reduced erroneous data and paperwork delays. The system’s tracking of parcel acquisitions and expropriations enables faster approvals and improves visibility for all stakeholders.
